SINGULAIR and Your Child: Once-a-day SINGULAIR for kids
SINGULAIR is easy to give and made with kids in mind. SINGULAIR once a day is proven to help relieve allergy symptoms in kids 2 to 14 years old.
How to give SINGULAIR:
For adults and children 2 years and older for outdoor allergies and 6 months and older for indoor allergies:
- Give SINGULAIR once a day, with or without food.
- Give SINGULAIR at any time of day (give at about the same time each day).
- Keep giving SINGULAIR for as long as your child's doctor tells you to give it.
Once-a-day SINGULAIR comes in 4 forms:

Cherry chewable 5-mg tablet
Dosage: One 5-mg cherry chewable tablet once a day
Age: Children 6 to 14 years old
How to give SINGULAIR: Give SINGULAIR at any time of day (give at about the same time each day)

Dosage: One 4-mg cherry chewable tablet once a day
Age: Children 2 to 5 years old

Oral granules
Dosage: One packet of 4-mg oral granules once a day
Age: Children 2 to 5 years old with outdoor allergies and 6 months to 5 years old with indoor allergies
How to give SINGULAIR oral granules:
- Open packet when ready to use.
- Sprinkle the granules directly into your child's mouth.
- Pour the entire packet of granules onto an empty spoon.
- Mix the entire packet of granules with a teaspoonful of cold or room temperature breast milk or formula.
- Mix the entire packet of granules with a teaspoonful of cold or room temperature applesauce, mashed carrots, rice, or ice cream.
- Be sure to feed the entire teaspoonful of oral granules to your child right away (within 15 minutes).

Dosage: One 10-mg tablet once a day
Age: Adults and adolescents 15 years and older

Ask your child's doctor if it is time to treat allergy symptoms differently with SINGULAIR.
SINGULAIR is a prescription medicine approved for relief of symptoms of indoor and outdoor allergies (outdoor allergies in adults and children as young as 2 years and indoor allergies in adults and children as young as 6 months).
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
- SINGULAIR may cause serious side effects. Behavior and mood-related changes have been reported: agitation including aggressive behavior or hostility, bad or vivid dreams, depression, disorientation (confusion), feeling anxious, hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not really there), irritability, restlessness, sleepwalking, suicidal thoughts and actions (including suicide), tremor, and trouble sleeping. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you have any of these symptoms while taking SINGULAIR.
- The most common side effects with SINGULAIR include upper respiratory infection, fever, headache, sore throat, cough, stomach pain, diarrhea, earache or ear infection, flu, runny nose, and sinus infection.
- Parents or guardians of a child with phenylketonuria: Note that cherry chewable tablets contain phenylalanine, a component of aspartame.
- SINGULAIR should not be taken by people who are sensitive to any of its ingredients.
