SINGULAIR is a prescription medicine approved for relief of symptoms of indoor and outdoor allergies (outdoor allergies in adults and children as young as 2 years and indoor allergies in adults and children as young as 6 months).
SINGULAIR is approved to help control symptoms of asthma in adults and children 12 months and older.
SINGULAIR has not been studied as a treatment option for both conditions in the same person.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
- SINGULAIR may cause serious side effects. Behavior and mood-related changes have been reported: agitation including aggressive behavior or hostility, bad or vivid dreams, depression, disorientation (confusion), feeling anxious, hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not really there), irritability, restlessness, sleepwalking, suicidal thoughts and actions (including suicide), tremor, and trouble sleeping. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you have any of these symptoms while taking SINGULAIR.
- The most common side effects with SINGULAIR include upper respiratory infection, fever, headache, sore throat, cough, stomach pain, diarrhea, earache or ear infection, flu, runny nose, and sinus infection.
- Parents or guardians of a child with phenylketonuria: Note that cherry chewable tablets contain phenylalanine, a component of aspartame.
- SINGULAIR should not be taken by people who are sensitive to any of its ingredients.
SINGULAIR works differently to treat allergies.
Although many allergy medicines work by blocking histamine, SINGULAIR works differently to relieve symptoms by blocking leukotrienes, an underlying cause of indoor and outdoor allergy symptoms. Ask your or your child's doctor about prescription SINGULAIR—a different way to treat allergies.
